A very fine quality George III sterling silver lidded tankard with a domed hinged cover and a pierced cast thumbpiece and scroll handle. The baluster shape plain body has an applied reeded rib around the body and a lions crest in the floral engraved cartouche. Standing on a turned spreading foot. Very good original condition with matching marks to the cover and base. (1779).
