This is a very good antique Victorian copy of an unusual George III style solid silver Argyle. (c.1897)
The body has a very plain vase shape which also has a very elegant low set curved spout so that the best of the gravy is poured. Hot water is poured into the capped tube in the centre of the body so the gravy can be kept warm for longer. The pot stands on a plain rising pedestal foot.
